FALCONS SENIOR SAYS THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE STATE CHAMPIONS ON THE TEAM By: Riley Kandel

Luke Ciampa, Senior wrestler from Jefferson High School expects to make a big splash in states this year as he makes a 22 pound jump in weight.

Ciampa is going into his Senior year and is a Captain for his wrestling team. Ciampa is very enthusiastic and his passion is wrestling. Ciampa works constantly wrestling all year round.

“Over quarantine, I got a lot stronger. This was good for me because I am going from an average 138 to a strong 160.”

The Falcons have a really good team this year, maybe the strongest in recent years. “I think this is the best chance the Falcons have to win a state title as a team in the past ten years.”

The Falcons have countless candidates to win the title at their weight class, all of whom are seniors! “Yes, I think both me and Austin have a chance to win it all this year, and maybe Gould as well.”

Just because the Seniors are strong this year does not mean the underclass men are weak; the future of Falcon wrestling is bright as well! “We expect freshman Mike Vandermulen to start at 106 and sophomore Joe Dibiase to start at 138.”

Ciampa has the personal goal to be a state champ and get better every time he wrestles. The Falcons have a lot of interesting components young and old that give them the best shot to win a title in a very long time
