As with every good leader, motivating teammates keeps everyone on task and moving in a positive direction - and Kennedy Kostecki is no exception.
Kostecki, a Junior pitcher this upcoming season for the Jefferson Township High School Varsity softball team, intends to set a positive tone this upcoming season and possibly set some new pitching records.
As part of a team, you always need to be a leader, showing enthusiasm. Showing leadership will make you and the rest of the team more positive and determined. “I make sure to focus on my mechanics and hitting my spots. I also work with the catcher to call pitches I know are working and are effective,” Kostecki says.
Having goals will always make you reach for the stars and never stop. You will always want to look for the bigger picture and or bigger prize at the end of every goal. Kostecki expresses that, “ The upcoming season my goal is to get closer to 100 strikeouts and keep my era below three.”
Strategies make you the player that you are and make you the most successful throughout your career. “I make sure to focus on my mechanics and hitting my spots. I also work with the catcher to call pitches I know are working and are effective,” as Kostecki explains her strategies as a pitcher on the Varsity team. Kostecki’s strategies are to help her reach her goal of 100 strikeouts, as she is starting out her upcoming season at 28 strikeouts.
The Jefferson Softball team lost their season in 2020, due to Covid 19. Kostecki was very upset to miss her Sophomore season, as many other spring athletes were, but she always kept up her positive and optimistic attitude. Even though Covid 19 ruined a lot, the Jefferson softball team was able to get together to play throughout the summer. In softball's summer league they were able to play two days a week as a team all together, even through many different regulations. This is unlike some other sports that did not get an opportunity to play another time all together, before the Seniors were to head to college.
Kostecki, who is an example of a great leader for the Jefferson Varsity softball team, as well as being a team player, will be including her effective strategies and goals throughout her next two upcoming seasons with her pitching records always in mind.
