Tommy Deball sets his alarm for 7:30 am when he has to be at school by 7:35. After an okay night

sleep his day begins to the beep of his alarm. In his pajamas, DeBell rolls out of bed and opens up his

computer. He logs onto his computer and signs into his first class. He says a little prayer that his wifi

will work today. DeBell is  a Sophomore at Jefferson Township high school currently going through

the struggle of virtual learning.

On Friday October 1st,  Debell was interviewed over the phone and he was asked how he liked

virtual learning.  DeBell claims, “It’s tough.” DeBell finds virtual schooling is difficult and hard to do

when you are by yourself. DeBell says, “It’s hard to find motivation to do work and it is kinda stressful”

DeBell said he was feeling very isolated and decided it would be better for him if he hung out with

friends and did school. DeBell states, “I have been hanging with my friends at least once a week.”

The workload given has been a struggle due to the fact there is no separation between school work

and homework.

Debell also states, “We are in school all day at home and then after classes are done we still have

more work on top of it.” This shows how the school day is never over unlike how it was when he was

in school. It just drags on through the whole day

DeBell does not think he will be going back until the end of the year.  Debell thinks that Jefferson

virtual learning is difficult to keep track of and difficult to become motivated to do. DeBell needs to

leave our interview in order to begin his virtual learning schedule. His next class begins in four

minutes. After today, he does the same thing over again. The days are all the same with virtual

learning.

As the students have hoped, Jefferson Township Public Schools have announced a return to

in-school instruction beginning October 29th. DeBell was on PS4 with all his friends when this news

was announced. Instead of focusing on their video games DeBell started yelling with joy. They could not have been happier to hear the news of returning to school.

After DeBell logs off PS4, he sets his alarm for 7:30 dreading to wake up for online school tomorrow.
