FIELD HOCKEY WITH SARAH LEPPARD By: Gianna Gaglardi

A way to describe Sarah Leppard is she is very outgoing when you get to know her. However, when you are just getting to know her she is a little timid and shy. She is an amazing athlete. As a freshman she started on the Varsity lacrosse team. And her Sophomore year, she started Varsity for field hockey.  She is a very down to earth person and all around a great friend and teammate.

Leppard, a Junior midfielder this season for the Jefferson Township Varsity field hockey team stated, “Last season was an amazing season - we won our conference ending with a record of 8-8-2, winning the biggest accomplishment the Jefferson Township field hockey team has ever had. This was the first time in history we wanted it.’

Leppard added, “I’m really not sure who our biggest rival would be but I would say anyone in our conference because we always wanted to beat them so we can be number one in our conference. Our most intense game was the last game we played against North Warren last season because that’s what decided whether or not we were conference champs.”

Leppard explained that this game was intense because they were tired and sadly had to end in a tie. However, they were still ahead of them in the conference and took the title.

When asked about goals for this season,  Leppard said, “I believe the season will go well if we always strive for our call in another conference championship. If we want the season to go well, we have to work or absolute hardest and leave everything on the field. We all have to work together and like Cannarozzi says ‘If you aren’t going all the way why go at all.’

This is the Senior quote for the season because they want  everyone going 100% at all times. Leppard says, “I don’t really know how I would estimate our wins and losses but I think we will be around more wins than losses. If we all work together and go all out we can have more wins but that will only happen if we go 100% every second of every game and every practice.

Leppard admits she is nervous to play Newton because they were one of their biggest losses last year at 6 to 0. Leppard says, “I want to keep their amount of points lower than that season and I want us to add some points on the scoreboard. It would be amazing if we could end up on top.”

”In my opinion I believe our role model for the team this season is Sara Thomas. She is such a versatile and skilled player. She is always trying new things and is always working hard to strive to do her best on and off the field. She also has such amazing leadership and is always helping and cheering everyone on the team.”

Leppard is a prime example of an amazing athlete for Jefferson Township High School.
